Discovery II Stone Shield

Open hood. Trial fit stone shield centrally on hood.
Note: The two rubber trim retaining plugs in rubber trim that are
nearest to the slots in the stone shield tags.
Also note: the holes in stone shield wings and the area of hood lip
that corresponds. Remove stone shield. Remove the rubber trim from the retaining
plugs at the positions noted. Remove retaining plugs.
Position bracket beneath rubber trim, as shown in diagram 1. Ensure that holes in bracket align with holes in underside of hood. Make incision in rubber trim using a sharp knife. Insert screws and washers through incision to secure rubber trim and bracket to hood.
Refit stone shield to hood. Secure stone shield
to bracket thread using washer and metal knurl nut provided.
Clean the area of the hood lip corresponding to the slots at both ends of
the stone shield using the alcohol wipe provided. Remove residue using a clean
dry cloth. Adhere abrasive resistant tape onto the approximate positions on
hood where previously cleaned. Fold tape over so approximately half of each
strip is adhered to outside and half to underside of hood.
Insert the nut insert into the square cut out in the clip. Locate the clip over the hood edge at the marked locations at each end. Ensure that the clip is positioned over abrasive resistant tape entirely and does not contact paint of hood. Secure stone shield to clips with Phillips screws provided.
TO REMOVE Reverse above procedure.
TO CLEAN Use mild detergent
and water solution. (Do not use solvents). Avoid the use of automatic “Brush
Style” car washes.
When closing the hood, do not slam and do not pull on stone shield.
